You can now add a Twitter Message button to your website!  It’s so easy, I’ll show you how to set it up in six seconds.

Let Twitter be your Messenger

Twitter announce the Message button for your website

Twitter Dev recently tweeted that they’ve created a new Message button that we can add to our websites:

This is great news for small businesses because it means that you can now receive enquiries through your website via Twitter’s private message system.

How to add the Twitter Message button to your website

Don’t worry if you have no coding experience, it is simply a matter of copying and pasting some text into your website.

Here’s how to set it up on your website, in six seconds:

  1. Go to publish.twitter.com
  2. Click on Twitter buttons
  3. Click on Message Buttons
  4. Enter your Username & ID
  5. Copy the code
  6. Paste the code into your website

To obtain your ID number for step 4 just click on the link provided on that page, which takes you to Your Twitter data in Settings.

Set your Twitter account to receive DMs from everyone

For this button to be most effective you’ll have to ensure you can receive DMs from anyone, including those you are not following.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Twiter security setings
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to Direct Messages
  3. Tick the box: Receive Direct Messages from anyone

You can also do this from iOS or Android device.

Now you can receive enquiries through your website via Twitter Direct Messages.
